A Maryland judge was fatally shot in a targeted attack outside his home in Hagerstown on Friday. The U.S. Marshals Service is now offering a $10,000 reward for information leading to the arrest of Pedro Argote, 49, who is wanted in connection with the killing of Washington County Circuit Court Judge Andrew Wilkinson.

The shooting occurred hours after Judge Wilkinson gave the Argote’s estranged wife custody of their four minor children, according to officials. Law enforcement officers are now searching the area where a silver Mercedes belonging to Argote was found on Saturday. Investigators do not believe that the community in Williamsport or the surrounding areas are at risk, but are conducting an area search before the vehicle is searched to ensure that Argote is no longer around.

Argote has ties to multiple areas outside of Maryland including Brooklyn and Long Island, New York; Columbus, Indiana; and Tampa and Clearwater, Florida, the Marshals Service said in a news release.

The Marshals Service is asking anyone with information on Argote’s whereabouts to contact the agency at 1-877-WANTED-2 (1-877-926-8332). Tips can also be submitted online at www.usmarshals.gov/tips.
