Suspect in Fatal Shooting of Maryland Circuit Court Judge Found Dead in Wooded Area Near Scene of Crime

Washington County Sheriff's Department announced the discovery of Pedro Argote's body, the suspect in the fatal shooting of Maryland Circuit Court judge Andrew Wilkinson. Argote was believed to be angry about losing custody of his children after Wilkinson presided over a hearing in which Argote's wife and daughter testified about the abuse he had inflicted upon them. The investigation into the shooting is ongoing, and the Sheriff's Department is working to provide closure to the Wilkinson family and the community.

Suspect in Fatal Shooting of Maryland Judge Found Dead in Wooded Area

Authorities have found the body of Pedro Argote, the suspect accused of fatally shooting Maryland Circuit Court Judge Andrew Wilkinson outside his Hagerstown home on October 19. Argote had been on the run since the shooting, which occurred hours after Wilkinson had ruled against him in a child custody dispute. At 11 a.m. Thursday, a search in Williamsport led to the discovery of a deceased person who was positively identified as Argote. The cause of death is still under investigation.

U.S. Marshals Service Offers $10,000 Reward in Connection with Fatal Shooting of Maryland Judge

Washington County Circuit Court Judge Andrew Wilkinson was fatally shot in a targeted attack outside his home in Hagerstown, Maryland on Friday. The U.S. Marshals Service is now offering a $10,000 reward for information leading to the arrest of Pedro Argote, 49, who is wanted in connection with the killing. Argote has ties to multiple areas outside of Maryland and the Marshals Service is asking anyone with information to contact them.

Maryland Judge Fatally Shot in Driveway After Overseeing Divorce Hearing Resulting in Suspected Gunman Losing Custody of Children

A Maryland judge was fatally shot in what police believe was a "targeted attack" by a suspect who had recently lost custody of his children in a divorce hearing. The ex-wife of the suspect had previously filed a petition for a protection order against him, accusing him of physical abuse and other forms of harassment. The Maryland Judiciary released a statement expressing their condolences for the judge's family and friends, noting his dedication to public service since 2015. The investigation into the shooting is ongoing.
