BALTIMORE — After a week-long manhunt, authorities have found the body of Pedro Argote, the suspect accused of fatally shooting Maryland Circuit Court Judge Andrew Wilkinson outside his Hagerstown home on October 19.

The Washington County Sheriff’s Office said Argote’s body was found in a heavily wooded area between Clear Spring and Bottom roads, approximately one mile northwest of where his vehicle, a Mercedes-Benz SUV, was found Saturday.

Wilkinson, 52, was found shot on his driveway on Olde Waterford Road around 8 p.m. that evening. Argote, 49, had been on the run since the shooting, which occurred hours after Wilkinson had ruled against Argote in a child custody dispute involving his estranged wife.

At 11 a.m. Thursday, a search in Williamsport led to the discovery of a deceased person who was positively identified as Argote. The cause of death is still under investigation.

The Washington County Sheriff’s Office said they will provide more information on the investigation at a press conference scheduled for Friday.
