English actor Julia Ormond has filed a lawsuit against Harvey Weinstein, the disgraced Hollywood producer, accusing him of sexually assaulting her in 1995.

In a statement, Ormond said, “After living for decades with the painful memories of my experiences at the hands of Harvey Weinstein, I am humbled and grateful to all those who have risked speaking out.”

The lawsuit, filed in New York state Supreme Court, alleges that Weinstein climbed on top of Ormond, masturbated and forced her to perform oral sex on him in December 1995 after what she thought would be a business meeting. The lawsuit also alleges that Miramax, Disney and Creative Artists Agency acted negligently.

Weinstein has been accused of sexual misconduct by dozens of women since 2017. He is currently facing criminal charges in New York, including rape and sexual assault. He has denied all allegations of nonconsensual sex.

Ormond’s lawsuit is the latest in a series of legal actions against Weinstein. Other lawsuits have been filed by actresses Ashley Judd and Rose McGowan, as well as several other women.

Ormond is seeking a level of personal closure by holding Weinstein accountable for his actions and the depth of its harms. She hopes that all of the women who have come forward will be able to find justice.
