U.S. and Iranian negotiators held indirect talks in Doha with Qatari and Pakistani mediators and agreed to meet again after funeral processions for Iran’s former supreme leader. Disputes over the Strait of Hormuz, frozen Iranian funds, Lebanon and nuclear access remain unresolved.

The Supreme Court will decide whether states and local governments may ban AR-15-style rifles. The cases challenge laws in Connecticut and Cook County, Illinois, and will be heard in the court’s next term.
The Supreme Court ruled 6-3 that federal limits on coordinated spending by political party committees violate the First Amendment. The decision came in a challenge brought by JD Vance, Steve Chabot and Republican campaign committees.
The Supreme Court upheld West Virginia and Idaho laws barring transgender girls and women from girls’ and women’s sports teams. The 6-3 ruling says states may base eligibility on biological sex under Title IX and the Equal Protection Clause.
