Key takeaways:

  • President Joe Biden denied ever talking business with anyone when asked by Fox News’ Peter Doocy about his son Hunter Biden’s questionable business dealings.
  • House Oversight Committee Chairman James Comer said Thursday that his panel plans to subpoena members of the Biden family, including possibly President Joe Biden.
  • The investigation into Hunter Biden’s foreign business dealings is ongoing, and the Biden family is likely to face further scrutiny in the coming weeks.

On Wednesday, President Joe Biden was asked by Fox News’ Peter Doocy about his son Hunter Biden’s questionable business dealings. Doocy referenced testimony from one of Hunter’s former business associates claiming that Joe was on speakerphone with them discussing business. In response, Biden stated that he had never talked business with anyone.

House Oversight Committee Chairman James Comer, who is leading the investigation into Hunter Biden’s foreign business dealings, said Thursday that his panel plans to subpoena members of the Biden family, including possibly President Joe Biden. Comer added that had he subpoenaed Joe and Hunter Biden on the first day he became Oversight chairman, a judge would have likely denied it.

The president’s response to Doocy’s question was sharp, stating “I knew you’d have a lousy question.” He then added that the investigation was “going to end up in court when we subpoena the Bidens.”

The Biden family has been the subject of much scrutiny, with many right-wing groups attempting to link the president to Hunter’s business dealings. However, President Biden has repeatedly denied any involvement in his son’s business.

The investigation into Hunter Biden’s foreign business dealings is ongoing, and the House Oversight Committee is continuing to build their case. It is unclear when the subpoenas will be issued, but the Biden family is likely to face further scrutiny in the coming weeks.
