Judge Orders Partial Release of Grand Jury Report on Donald Trump’s Actions in Georgia After 2020 Election

A highly anticipated report by the Atlanta-area special grand jury that investigated Donald Trump’s actions in Georgia after the 2020 election will be partially released Thursday, giving the public its clearest look yet into the two-year probe.

Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis’ office was ordered Monday by a judge to release three sections of the lengthy report — the introduction, conclusion and a section in which the grand jury “discusses its concern that some witnesses may have lied under oath during their testimony.”

Media organizations including CBS News had argued that the full report should be made public immediately, but Fulton County Judge Robert McBurney largely rejected their effort. Judge McBurney wrote in his order that the report’s introduction and conclusion, as well as concerns the panel had about witnesses lying under oath, will made be public on Thursday.

The rest of the report was ordered to be kept under wraps until prosecutors complete their investigation. It is unclear what new information the portions of the report will reveal about Trump and his associates’ efforts to reverse his election defeat.

The release of the report is expected to provide a clearer picture of the investigation and its findings. It is also likely to fuel further debate about the former president’s actions in the wake of the 2020 election.
