Prominent Colorado plastic surgeon Geoffrey Kim was found guilty of attempted manslaughter in the death of 18-year-old Emmalyn Nguyen on Wednesday. Kim attempted CPR on Nguyen but later admitted he did not call 911 for help for approximately five hours. Kim was found guilty of attempted reckless manslaughter and obstruction of telephone service and faces up to three years in prison when he is sentenced on September 8. Nguyen's family has also filed a civil lawsuit against Kim and the medical facility.

Nine people were shot in Denver, Colorado, following celebrations of the Denver Nuggets' first NBA championship win. Three of the victims are in critical condition, while the remaining victims and the suspect are believed to have non-life-threatening injuries. The Memphis Grizzlies have suspended guard Ja Morant from all team activities pending a review by the NBA after a video surfaced on social media of him appearing to hold a gun. This is the second time Morant has been seen on social media holding what appears to be a gun, and the Grizzlies released a statement Sunday morning that they were aware of the video. Morant is a two-time All-Star and the reigning NBA Rookie of the Year, averaging 19.2 points, 7.3 assists, and 3.5 rebounds per game this season.
Three Colorado teens have been charged with first-degree murder with extreme indifference in the death of 20-year-old Alexa Bartell. The incident occurred on April 19th when the teens allegedly threw rocks and other objects at cars, one of which went through Bartell's windshield, killing her. The teens have been identified and are currently being held in the Jefferson County jail awaiting trial, as the investigation is ongoing.
Denver Public Schools (DPS) announced Thursday that they will be closed Friday for a mental health day in response to a shooting at East High School earlier this week and a data breach earlier this year. The shooting resulted in two faculty members being injured and the shooter, a student, taking his own life. The day is intended to provide resources and support for students and staff to process the events of the past week.
On Wednesday morning, two staff members at East High School in Denver were shot and wounded by a student, Austin Lyle. Later that day, authorities found an abandoned car belonging to the suspect in a remote mountain area and a body was discovered near the car. Park County Sheriff Tom McGraw believes the body is that of the suspect, though the identity is still being confirmed. The investigation is ongoing and the community is mourning the tragic events.
