Francisco Severo Torres, 33, was arrested and charged with federal crimes after allegedly attempting to open an emergency exit door and attacking a flight attendant on a United Airlines flight from Los Angeles to Boston. Torres allegedly attacked the flight attendant with a broken metal spoon, attempting to stab the neck three times, but the flight attendant was able to fend off the attack and restrain Torres until the plane landed. The U.S. Attorney's Office is continuing to investigate the incident and urging anyone with information to contact them.

The FAA is investigating a "close call" between a JetBlue flight and a Learjet that took off without clearance at Boston Logan International Airport on Monday night. An air traffic controller instructed the pilot of the Learjet to line up and wait on Runway 9 while the JetBlue Embraer 190 landed on Runway 4-Right, but the controller then instructed the crew to "go around". The FAA is reviewing the air traffic controller's response and taking steps to prevent similar incidents in the future.
President Joe Biden has announced his nomination of Julie Su to be the next Secretary of Labor. Su is a civil rights attorney and former head of California's labor department, and has spent her life fighting for the rights of workers. Massachusetts prosecutors have issued a murder warrant for Brian Walshe in the death of his wife, Ana Walshe, who has been missing since Jan. 1. Brian Walshe has been arrested on suspicion of misleading the investigation and is currently in police custody. He is expected to be arraigned Wednesday on the murder charge, with additional details of the investigation to be presented at arraignment.
On Friday, a 20-foot tall, 40-foot wide bronze sculpture honoring the legacy of civil rights leaders Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and Coretta Scott King was unveiled on Boston Common. The monument, called “The Embrace,” depicts the couple’s arms embracing each other and has sparked mixed reactions. Seneca Scott, the Kings’ eldest son, defended the monument in a statement, saying it is a symbol of love, hope, and resilience. Martin Luther King III attended the unveiling ceremony and said he was “overwhelmed with emotion” to see the sculpture honoring his parents’ legacy.
