Former First Lady Rosalynn Carter to be Honored in Tribute Service Attended by President Biden, Vice President Harris, and All Living Former First Ladies

On Tuesday, a tribute service will be held in honor of the late former first lady Rosalynn Carter at Glenn Memorial Church on the campus of Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia. President Joe Biden, Vice President Kamala Harris, and first lady Jill Biden will be in attendance, as well as all the living former first ladies.

The service comes a little over a week after Rosalynn Carter passed away at the age of 96 in Plains, Georgia. Her husband of 77 years, former President Jimmy Carter, is expected to attend the service, though his own health has been precarious and he entered hospice care in February. Jimmy Carter was by her side in her final moments, according to her son.

Notable guests for Tuesday’s invitation-only service include the Bidens, Vice President Harris and second gentleman Doug Emhoff, former President Bill Clinton and former first ladies Laura Bush, Hillary Clinton, and Michelle Obama.

Rosalynn Carter was a humanitarian and a beloved first lady who was known for her commitment to mental health and her work with the Carter Center. She was also a strong advocate for women’s rights and was a champion for the elderly and the disabled.

The tribute service will be an opportunity to honor the life and legacy of Rosalynn Carter and to celebrate her many accomplishments.
