On Thursday night, heavily armed law enforcement officers were seen surrounding a house in Bowdoin, Maine, as part of the ongoing search for the suspect in the mass shootings that killed 18 people and injured 13 in Lewiston, Maine, on Wednesday night.

Michael Sauschuck, the commissioner of the Maine Dept. of Public Safety, said Friday that hundreds of police officers and about 80 FBI agents, as well as federal marshals and personnel from other agencies, are involved in the search.

At a morning briefing on the Lewiston shootings, reporters asked whether law enforcement had been warned about suspect Robert Card, and failed to act under the state’s yellow flag law. The yellow flag law outlines several steps that must be taken before a weapon can be removed by courts or law enforcement such as getting a medical practitioner evaluation.

When asked again if he could confirm there was a warning bell made to law enforcement, Sauschuck said, “I’m not gonna talk about who knew what and when.” He instead focused on the search efforts.

The manhunt continues for the suspect, and law enforcement is working diligently to bring the suspect to justice.
