A missing Arizona woman was rescued after she passed a chilling note to a customer at a gas station begging for help, authorities said Thursday.

The woman, who has not been identified, was abducted from a car dealership in Phoenix, Arizona at about 7 a.m. local time on Aug. 21. Police in Yavapai County, Arizona said that the woman was allegedly kidnapped by a man posing as an Uber driver.

Jacob Wilhoit, 41, allegedly wore a wig and pretended to be an Uber driver, and once the woman got in his car, he restrained her and began driving towards Las Vegas.

At around 5 p.m. local time on Aug. 22, the car pulled into a Chevron gas station in Seligman, Arizona. There, the woman was able to signal another customer and pass them a note with her name, a phone number, a description of the van, and a plea for help.

The customer then contacted the Yavapai County Sheriff’s Office, who were able to locate the van and rescue the woman. Wilhoit was taken into custody without incident and faces charges of threatening, aggravated assault, unlawful imprisonment, kidnapping and other crimes.

The woman was reunited with her family after the incident. The Yavapai County Sheriff’s Office commended the woman’s quick thinking and bravery in the face of danger.
