Arson investigators from the South Carolina State Police have charged a 33-year-old man with attempted murder in connection with a house fire that left six people dead and one injured in Green Pond, South Carolina.

The Colleton County Sheriff’s Office said in a statement that the bodies of the deceased victims and one person in critical condition were found at the home around 11 a.m. on Sunday. The survivor was airlifted to a hospital in critical condition.

The suspect, Ryan Lenard Manigo, was taken into custody and is being held at the Colleton Detention Center. The Sheriff’s Office said additional charges may be pending the results of the autopsies.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation, but the Sheriff’s Office said arson investigators from the South Carolina State Police have been called in to assist.
