Air India said it was mobilizing additional support at the San Francisco International Airport to carry out clearance formalities upon arrival of a replacement flight carrying all passengers and crew who were stranded in Russia.

The original Boeing 777, which left New Delhi carrying 216 passengers and 16 crew members, landed at Magadan airport in Siberia in Russia’s far east on Tuesday due to an engine problem. The replacement plane took off from Magadan at 10:27 a.m. local time Thursday (7:27 p.m. Wednesday ET) and is expected to arrive in San Francisco at 12:15 a.m. local time Thursday.

The airline said in a statement that the team at San Francisco International Airport is prepared to provide all necessary assistance to the passengers, including but not limited to medical care, ground transportation, and onward connections in applicable cases.

Air India said it is working to ensure the passengers have a comfortable journey and that their needs are met. The airline is also providing meals and refreshments on board the flight.

The hundreds of U.S.-bound passengers who were stranded in Russia are now en route to San Francisco on the replacement flight. Air India said it is doing its best to ensure the passengers have a safe and comfortable journey.
