Air India is mobilizing additional support at the San Francisco International Airport to assist the hundreds of passengers and crew who were stranded in Russia due to an engine problem. The replacement flight is expected to arrive at 12:15 a.m. local time Thursday, and Air India is providing meals and refreshments on board, as well as medical care, ground transportation, and onward connections upon arrival.

Air India flight from New Delhi to San Francisco was forced to make an emergency landing in Russia due to a technical issue with one of its engines. Local authorities at the airport have been assisting the airline in providing food and accommodation for the 216 passengers and 16 crew members. Air India is working to send a replacement aircraft to Russia, but the cause of the engine failure and when the passengers will be able to reach their destination is still unknown.
