Sen. John Fetterman of Pennsylvania has been discharged from Walter Reed National Military Medical Center and is now back in Braddock, Pennsylvania, to spend time with his family and constituents.

Fetterman’s chief of staff, Joe Calvello, said in a statement that the Democratic senator is “well on his way to recovery.”

“I am so happy to be home,” Fetterman said Friday. “I’m excited to be the father and husband I want to be, and the senator Pennsylvania deserves.”

Fetterman had been receiving treatment for clinical depression at Walter Reed since checking himself into the hospital in February at the recommendation of the attending physician of the U.S. Congress.

“I am extremely grateful to the incredible team at Walter Reed,” Fetterman said in a note posted on Twitter by his director of communications. “Pennsylvanians have always had my back, and I will always have theirs.”

Fetterman’s office said he will be spending the next two weeks with his family and constituents. They added that he is “well on his way to recovery” and thanked the public for their support and understanding during this time.
