At a regular news briefing on Monday, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Wang Wenbin said that the United States was not qualified to lecture China on the matter. He added that China’s position on Ukraine is to promote peace talks and that the US should not interfere in China-Russia relations.

“The US side is not qualified to lecture China, and we would never accept the US dictating or even coercing pressure on Sino-Russian relations,” said Wang. “We will never accept U.S. criticism, even coercion and pressure on China-Russia relations.”

Wang also accused the US of supplying weapons to the battlefield, saying that it was not China that was supplying arms.

China has been a strong advocate of dialogue and peace in the conflict between Russia and Ukraine, and has said it will continue to play a constructive role in easing the situation.
