Nancy Pelosi Endorses Rep. Adam Schiff for U.S. Senate in Event of Sen. Dianne Feinstein’s Retirement

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi has endorsed fellow Democratic Rep. Adam Schiff for the U.S. Senate if Sen. Dianne Feinstein of California decides to retire at the end of her term. Pelosi, who holds the title of speaker emerita and has represented her San Francisco district since 1987, said Schiff would be “effective from the start in putting people over politics and advancing an economy that works safely and for everyone” in the Senate.

“If Senator Feinstein decides to seek re-election, she has my whole-hearted support,” Pelosi said in a statement.

The Republican-led House of Representatives is expected to vote Thursday on a resolution to remove Democratic Rep. Ilhan Omar from the powerful House Foreign Affairs Committee. The resolution is in response to McCarthy’s vow last year that if Republicans won back the House majority, he would strip Schiff, Swalwell and Omar of committee assignments, arguing that Democrats created a “new standard” when they held the majority by removing Republican Reps. Marjorie Taylor Greene of Georgia and Paul Gosar of Arizona from committees for violent rhetoric and posts.

House Republicans are expected to support the resolution, while House Democrats are expected to oppose it. The resolution is not expected to pass the Democratic-controlled Senate.
