State prosecutor Creighton Waters said that Murdaugh’s phone showed little activity from 8:09 p.m. to 9:02 p.m., when he called his wife. Murdaugh then drove to Almeda, South Carolina, where his mother and her caretaker were. Waters said that Murdaugh called his wife twice after she had been killed while he was about a third of a mile away.
