At least nine people were killed and 64 others wounded in the southeastern city of Dnipro, Ukraine, after a Russian missile strike destroyed a section of an apartment building on Saturday.

Kyrylo Tymoshenko, deputy head of the Ukrainian presidential office, confirmed the casualties, saying that 12 people were killed in the nine-story building. Valentyn Reznichenko, the head of the Dnipropetrovsk regional military administration, reported that 27 people, including six children, were hospitalized after being wounded in the attack.

The missile strike was part of a series of attacks across Ukraine, with Moscow targeting multiple cities for the first time in nearly two weeks. Explosions and missiles were heard in Lviv in the west, Kharkiv in the northeast, Zaporizhzhia and Dnipro in the southeast, Myokaliv in the south, and Kharkiv in the northeast.

Local authorities are working to dig people from the rubble, but 26 remain trapped, according to Reznichenko. Photos of the attack show a car and a residential building destroyed by the missile strike.

The Ukrainian government has yet to comment on the attack, but the Ukrainian military has accused Russia of launching a “large-scale offensive” against the country. The United Nations Security Council is expected to discuss the situation in Ukraine on Monday.
