On Saturday, tragedy struck Big Bend National Park in Texas when a 14-year-old boy and his stepfather died while hiking in extreme heat. Park Rangers and agents from the U.S. Border Patrol arrived to find the teen had passed away and the stepfather had attempted to hike back to their vehicle, but had crashed down an embankment. The National Park Service has expressed its condolences and reminds hikers to take precautions when in extreme heat.

Hawaii Resident Fined $500 After Helping Bison Calf, Resulting in its Euthanization at Yellowstone National Park

Clifford Walters, a Hawaii resident, has pleaded guilty to a federal charge and been fined after helping a bison calf out of the Lamar River in Yellowstone National Park. The calf was later euthanized, and the National Park Service has warned visitors to never approach, feed, or intentionally disturb wildlife. Walters was fined $500, along with a $500 community service payment, a $30 special assessment and a $10 processing fee.

Tragedy Strikes at Glacier National Park: 28-Year-Old Woman Dies After Falling into River

On Monday, a 28-year-old woman from Kansas died after falling into a river and being swept into a gorge at Glacier National Park in Montana. Bystanders waded into the creek to pull her out and performed CPR, but she was declared dead at the scene. The park service is investigating the incident and has asked for respect for the woman's family and friends, while reminding visitors to stay on designated trails and be aware of their surroundings.

Man Arrested for Drug Possession After Woman Found Dead in Car at Yellowstone National Park

Rangers at Yellowstone National Park responded to an incident on Saturday evening, finding a car that had been driven into a snowbank and a man standing outside the car. Upon further investigation, the body of a woman was discovered inside the car. The National Park Service is currently investigating the incident and has asked anyone with information to contact them. They have also reminded visitors to be aware of their surroundings and to follow all park regulations.

Tragic Accident at Cape Hatteras National Seashore Claims Life of 17-Year-Old Boy

A 17-year-old boy from Chesapeake, Virginia, died on Saturday after being trapped under a collapsing dune at the Cape Hatteras National Seashore in Frisco, North Carolina. Seashore law enforcement rangers responded to a 911 call and attempted to free the teen from the sand, but were unsuccessful. The National Park Service is currently investigating the incident and Superintendent David Hallac expressed his condolences to the family.

A 64-year-old woman died while hiking in Big Bend National Park in Texas on Monday, despite attempts by park rangers and a U.S. Border Patrol agent to revive her. The NPS warned visitors to take precautions when hiking due to the hot temperatures in March, and expressed their condolences to the woman's family and friends.
