Attorney General Jeff Landry, a Republican backed by former President Donald Trump, has won the Louisiana governor’s race, beating out 24 other candidates and reclaiming the governor’s mansion for the GOP for the first time in eight years. Landry, who has raised the profile of attorney general since 2015, won with 56% of the vote.

The incident has sparked a debate among parents and community members about the appropriate disciplinary action for students engaging in off-campus activities, with some arguing the punishment was too severe and others arguing the principal was within his rights. The school district is conducting an investigation into the matter.
On April 6th, a missing child alert was issued for two Florida girls, Jade Gregory, 12, and Khloe Larsen, 14, who had stolen Gregory's father's car and were believed to be traveling on Interstate 10 toward Louisiana. Fortunately, the girls were found the same day in Bayou La Batre, Alabama and the Union County Sheriff's Office is reminding parents to be aware of their children's online activities.
Four people have been arrested in connection with the alleged rape of Madison Brooks, a Louisiana State University student, who was then fatally hit by a car. Kaivon Washington, 18, and an unnamed 17-year-old juvenile have been charged with third-degree rape, while two other suspects, Casen Carver, 18, and Everett Lee, 28, have been charged with principal to third-degree rape. The four suspects are currently being held in the East Baton Rouge Parish Prison and the investigation is ongoing.
