Winter Storm Brings Dangerous Ice Accumulations and Road Closures to Parts of the South and Central US

A winter storm bringing a triple threat of ice, sleet and snow to parts of the South and central US has caused officials to close roads and schools and cancel over 1,700 flights. One person has been confirmed dead in a 10-car pileup in south Austin, and two Texas law officers have been seriously injured in crashes. People in the affected areas are urged to take extra precautions when traveling.

A severe ice storm has caused disruption to air travel in the South and central United States, with over 1,200 flights cancelled and 1,600 delayed. Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport and Dallas Love Field were particularly affected, with Southwest Airlines reporting over 300 cancelled flights. The storm is expected to continue into Wednesday, with further disruption to air travel likely.
