A hurricane watch has been issued for parts of the northeast United States and Canada, stretching from Stonington, Maine to the U.S.-Canadian border. A tropical storm watch has also been issued for parts of Nova Scotia, New Brunswick, Rhode Island, Maine and Massachusetts, including Martha's Vineyard and Nantucket. The hurricane is expected to bring heavy rainfall and coastal flooding to the region on Friday night and Saturday, with the potential for life-threatening flooding late Friday and Saturday.

On Monday, the body of Tafari Campbell, a 45-year-old former employee of former President Barack Obama and his family, was recovered from a Martha's Vineyard lake. The Obamas released a statement expressing their condolences and describing Campbell as a "warm, fun, extraordinarily kind person". The cause of death is still under investigation and the Obamas have asked for privacy as they grieve.
This week, a mother and daughter in Louisiana were arrested for allegedly using fraudulent paperwork to enroll the 28-year-old daughter in a high school near New Orleans. They face charges of injuring public records, which can carry a prison sentence of up to five years and a fine of up to $5,000. The investigation is ongoing and additional charges may be forthcoming.
