Rex Heuermann, a 59-year-old Manhattan architect, was arrested and charged with three counts of first-degree and three counts of second-degree murder in connection to the Gilgo Beach murders, which have been unsolved for more than a decade. Lynn Barthelemy, mother of one of the victims, expressed her hope that Heuermann "suffer[s] at the hands of other inmates" in prison. The Suffolk County Police Department is continuing to investigate the case and is asking anyone with information to contact them.

On Thursday evening, a collision between a double-decker tour bus and an MTA bus in Manhattan left 18 people injured. 27 were hospitalized, including the tour bus driver, and 50 were examined at the scene. Fire and EMS officials had to use ladders and ropes to get some people out of the bus due to the crash damage. The injured were taken to nearby hospitals for treatment and the MTA is working with the NYPD to investigate the incident.
Robert De Niro has issued a statement following the death of his 19-year-old grandson, Leandro Anthony De Niro-Rodriguez. The New York City Police Department said De Niro-Rodriguez was found unconscious and pronounced dead at the scene. De Niro said he was "deeply distressed" and asked for privacy to grieve their loss. The cause of death is yet to be determined by the office of the chief medical examiner.
Donald Trump has filed a countersuit against writer E. Jean Carroll, claiming she defamed him on television after a jury found him liable for sexually abusing her in the 1990s. Trump's attorney wrote in the court filing that Carroll defamed Trump by claiming in her interview that Trump raped her. Carroll's attorney Roberta Kaplan responded that Trump's filing is an attempt to "attack women who report his misconduct and then trying to gaslight the public by denying his own words and actions." The countersuit is an update to a defamation lawsuit Carroll filed against Trump in 2019.
U.S. District Judge Alvin Hellerstein expressed skepticism towards Donald Trump's efforts to move his New York State "hush money" criminal case to federal jurisdiction, citing that the act for which the former president has been indicted does not relate to anything under the color of his office. Trump's lawyers argued that the payments were made while Trump was president, however Hellerstein has yet to issue a ruling on the matter.
