McCurtain County Commissioner Mark Jennings Resigns Following Reports of Threatening Comments

Mark Jennings, McCurtain County Commissioner, has resigned following a report of him and other officials discussing killing reporters and lynching Black people. Governor Stitt called for Jennings' resignation, as well as the resignations of Sheriff Kevin Clardy and two other sheriff’s department employees, and has requested an investigation into the matter. Jennings' resignation letter was delivered to Governor Stitt and it is hoped that the investigation will bring to light the full extent of the incident and that justice will be served.

Governor Stitt Calls for Resignations of Four McCurtain County Officials After Alleged Racist Remarks and Discussion of Killing Journalists

Oklahoma Governor Kevin Stitt has called for the resignations of four McCurtain County officials after an audio recording was released that allegedly captured them making racist remarks and discussing the killing of journalists. The audio was obtained legally by the McCurtain Gazette-News and has sparked outrage in the community, with many calling for the officials to be held accountable. Governor Stitt has stated that he is "both appalled and disheartened" by the comments and is seeking the resignations of Sheriff Kevin Clardy, Sheriff's Capt. Alicia Manning, District 2 Commissioner Mark Jennings, and Jail Administrator Larry Hendrix.
