Maine Woman Fights Off Bear Attack, Injuring Her Wrist in the Process

Lynn Kelly, 64, of Porter, Maine, successfully defended her dog from a bear attack on Friday afternoon by punching the bear in the nose. The bear bit her right hand, puncturing her wrist, but she was able to fight it off and it quickly fled. The Maine Department of Inland Fisheries and Wildlife is urging people to take precautions when in bear country and to carry bear spray. Kelly is currently recovering from her injuries and is expected to make a full recovery.
