Afghan officials said Pakistani strikes and ground operations killed at least 36 civilians and wounded more than 160 after a deadly militant attack in Karachi. Pakistan said it targeted Jamaat-ul-Ahrar and other militant hideouts, while both governments lodged diplomatic protests.

Iran says it is considering whether Presidents Masoud Pezeshkian and Donald Trump should sign a Swiss memorandum of understanding opening 60 days of negotiations. The draft framework covers a halt to military operations, sanctions relief, Iran’s nuclear program and Strait of Hormuz shipping.
