Eric Montross, Beloved Member of UNC and NBA Community, Passes Away at Home Surrounded by Loved Ones

Eric Montross, former University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and NBA big man, passed away on Sunday after being diagnosed with cancer in March. He was a beloved figure in the North Carolina basketball community, having been part of the 1993 National Championship team and a radio analyst for UNC game broadcasts. The family requested donations to the Eric Montross Scholarship Fund at UNC and asked for privacy during this difficult time.

Nikki McCray-Penson, two-time Olympic gold medalist and former ABL MVP, has died at the age of 49. She was an assistant women's basketball coach at Rutgers and was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2013. She was an integral part of the 1996 U.S. women's basketball team which sparked the formation of the WNBA and ABL, and was known for her positive attitude and her commitment to helping others.

Supreme Court Rules Race-Conscious Admissions Policies of Harvard and UNC Violate Constitution

The Supreme Court ruled 6-3 and 6-2 that race-conscious admission policies of Harvard College and the University of North Carolina violate the Constitution, bringing an end to affirmative action in higher education. Chief Justice John Roberts wrote the majority opinion, which could have implications for other areas of the law such as employment and housing. The ruling is a major victory for Students for Fair Admissions, Inc., and could have a major impact on college admissions nationwide.

Kraft Heinz Introduces Lunchables to School Lunch Programs Nationwide for 2023-2024 School Year

Kraft Heinz announced that their popular Lunchables snack packs will be available in school lunch programs this fall. The two offerings, Turkey and Cheddar Cracker Stacker and Extra Cheesy Pizza, will be available for purchase in the lunchroom or for free through the National School Lunch Program (NSLP). The company is also testing the addition of packaged Lunchables fruits for sale in grocery stores nationwide.
