Former Florida School Principal Hope Carrasquilla Visits Iconic Statue of Michelangelo’s David in Florence, Italy

Hope Carrasquilla, a former Florida school principal, visited the Accademia Gallery in Florence, Italy to view Michelangelo's iconic statue of a nude David. Cecilie Hollberg, director of the gallery, welcomed Carrasquilla and her family to the museum, where they were able to view masterpieces such as Michelangelo's David, Botticelli's Birth of Venus, and Giambologna's Rape of the Sabines. Hollberg hopes that the visit was a memorable experience for Carrasquilla and her family.

Tallahassee Classical School Principal Resigns Following Controversy Over Art History Lesson

Hope Carrasquilla, the former principal of Tallahassee Classical School, resigned this week after parents complained about a lesson on Michelangelo's statue of David. The school board chair said Carrasquilla did not follow procedure and was asked to either resign or be terminated. The school board has not yet named a replacement and is looking into the incident to determine if any further action is necessary.
