Democratic staff on a House committee allege Trump allies used Freedom 250 to redirect the nation’s 250th anniversary planning toward political fundraising, donor confusion, voter-data collection and Christian nationalist programming. The interim report has not been adopted by the full committee.

The Supreme Court ruled 6-3 that federal limits on coordinated spending by political party committees violate the First Amendment. The decision came in a challenge brought by JD Vance, Steve Chabot and Republican campaign committees.
The Senate Ethics Committee dismissed a complaint from Rep. Anna Paulina Luna alleging misconduct by Sen. Ruben Gallego, saying it found no evidence he violated federal law, Senate rules or conduct standards. Gallego denied wrongdoing and called for an apology from Luna.
Rick Jackson, a billionaire healthcare executive and first-time candidate, defeated Trump-backed Lt. Gov. Burt Jones in Georgia’s Republican runoff for governor. Jackson will face Democrat Keisha Lance Bottoms in November.
