The 123rd Boston Marathon saw record-breaking participation from all 50 states and over 100 countries, and was a celebration of the strength and resilience of the running community. Defending champion Evans Chebet of Kenya won the men's race, with Hellen Obiri of Kenya winning the women's race. Tanzanian Gabriel Geay came in second, and world record holder Eliud Kipchoge finished fourth.

Families of Boston Marathon Bombing Victims Gather to Commemorate 10th Anniversary of Tragedy

On Saturday, families of those killed in the 2013 Boston Marathon bombing gathered to commemorate the 10th anniversary of the tragedy. Led by a bagpiper, they walked to the memorial sites near the finish line and laid wreaths in silence. Rick DesLauriers, who was leading the FBI's manhunt for the suspected bombers, reflected on the tragedy and the bravery and resilience of the victims and their families. The FBI's investigation ultimately identified, located and apprehended the terrorists.

Boston Marathon Bombing 10th Anniversary Marked by Somber Procession of Families of Victims

On April 15th, 2021, the 10th anniversary of the Boston Marathon bombing was marked by a somber procession of families of those killed in the tragedy, joined by Boston Mayor Michelle Wu and Governor Maura Healey. The procession included 78-year-old runner Bill Iffrig, who was knocked to the ground by the first blast. The tragedy of the 2013 Boston Marathon was captured in a photograph, and the city of Boston continues to remember the tragedy and honor the victims.
