Rep. Andy Kim Announces Candidacy for New Jersey Senate Seat Following Bribery Indictment of Incumbent Sen. Bob Menendez

Rep. Andy Kim (D-NJ) has announced his plans to challenge Sen. Bob Menendez (D-NJ) for his Senate seat in the upcoming election, after Menendez was charged with bribery in a recent indictment. Kim, joined by Rep. Josh Gottheimer (D-NJ) and Democratic state committee chairman LeRoy J. Jones Jr., has called for Menendez to step down, saying "We cannot jeopardize the Senate or compromise our integrity." The election for the New Jersey Senate seat will take place in November 2020, and it is unclear if Menendez will seek re-election.

Former Florida Republican Lawmaker Joseph Harding Pleads Guilty to Federal Felony Charges Related to COVID-19 Relief Fraud

Former Florida Republican lawmaker Joseph Harding has pleaded guilty to federal felony charges related to COVID-19 relief fraud in Gainesville federal court. He had initially pleaded not guilty to the charges, but now pleads guilty to one count of each charge, cutting his potential punishment in half. Harding will pay $150,000 in restitution to the Small Business Administration and the sentencing hearing is scheduled for June 8.
