Family of Stephen Smith Seeks Private Autopsy to Uncover Answers in His Death

The family of Stephen Smith is petitioning a court to exhume his body, discovered in July 2015 in South Carolina, for a private autopsy to provide answers about what led to his death. The effort has nothing to do with the family of Alex Murdaugh, and Buster Murdaugh, the older son of former attorney and convicted murderer Alex Murdaugh, has denied any involvement in Smith's death. The family's GoFundMe page is seeking a new, unbiased look at Smith's body to determine the cause of death.

The family of Stephen Smith, who was found dead in 2015, has raised money to exhume his body and perform a private autopsy. They do not believe that it was a hit-and-run and hope that the autopsy will provide them with answers. The exhumation is expected to take place soon and the family is encouraging anyone with information to come forward.

Memphis City Council Investigates Retirement of Police Supervisor Involved in Tyre Nichols’ Death

At a recent Memphis City Council meeting, members expressed their dissatisfaction with the retirement of a police supervisor who was on the scene when Tyre Nichols was beaten to death by officers. The Council is investigating the circumstances of the retirement and the process of revoking the officer's certification, and is taking steps to ensure that similar incidents do not occur in the future. The Nichols family is also calling for the termination of all officers involved and for the Memphis Police Department to be held accountable.

Secret Service Investigating Allegations of Fraud Scheme Orchestrated by Rep. George Santos of New York

Gustavo Ribeiro Trelha has sworn to the U.S. Secret Service that Rep. George Santos of New York was "in charge of" a fraud scheme that led to Trelha's arrest in 2017. Santos has denied the allegations, but the Secret Service has interviewed him and the investigation remains open. The House Ethics Committee has yet to comment, but the investigation could have serious implications for the New York congressman.
