The House of Representatives voted to formally censure Rep. Adam Schiff (D-Calif.), the former chairman of the House Intelligence Committee, on Wednesday in a 213-209 party-line vote. The resolution was authored by Rep. Anna Paulina Luna (R-Fla.) and was the first time in history that a sitting member of Congress has been censured by the House. Speaker Kevin McCarthy read a verbal rebuke to Schiff on the House floor, to which a large group of House Democrats shouted “shame, shame!” in response.

The House of Representatives voted to reject a resolution to censure Democratic Rep. Adam Schiff for his role in congressional investigations of former President Donald Trump. The vote was largely along party lines, with 20 Republicans joining 205 Democrats in voting to reject the effort. Rep. Schiff said he would wear the vote as “a badge of honor” and that the resolution was an attempt to hold him accountable for his role in the impeachment process.
Adidas has suffered a 400 million euro ($441 million) loss in sales due to its breakup with rapper Ye and his Yeezy shoe brand. Adidas has been hit with a lawsuit from investors alleging the sportswear giant failed to disclose the risks of its partnership with rapper Ye, formerly known as Kanye West. The lawsuit claims that Adidas was aware of the risks of working with Ye as early as 2018, but failed to disclose them to shareholders. In response to the lawsuit, Adidas has rejected the claims and will take measures to defend itself. The lawsuit seeks unspecified damages and a jury trial.
Two Chinese nationals, Lu Jianwang and Chen Jinping, have been arrested on charges of operating an illegal police station in New York City to monitor and intimidate critics of the Chinese government. The FBI raided the station last October and more than three dozen officers with China’s national police force have been charged with using social media to harass dissidents inside the United States. The arrests are a reminder of the Chinese government's efforts to monitor and intimidate its critics in the United States.
The International Rescue Committee is working to help victims of the earthquakes that hit southeastern Turkey and northern Syria last week. US Ambassador to the United Nations Linda Thomas-Greenfield has urged the UN Security Council to approve two additional access points to deliver aid to parts of Syria. The organization is appealing to the international community to help in the moment of need, as the death toll from the quakes has risen to over 33,000 and is expected to continue to go up.
At least 16,000 people have been killed and many more injured after a 7.8 magnitude earthquake and a series of aftershocks struck Turkey and Syria on Tuesday. Rescue teams have been working to pull survivors from the rubble, and have found some miraculous stories of survival. US Ambassador to the UN Linda Thomas-Greenfield has expressed sadness at the loss of life and the humanitarian toll of the earthquakes, and humanitarian agencies are appealing for donations to help those affected.
