Elon Musk, the world's richest man, has recently come under fire for engaging in anti-Semitic behavior, including blaming the Anti-Defamation League (ADL) for his company's declining ad revenue and Jeffrey Clark, one of Donald Trump's co-defendants in Georgia, posting a religious attack against a former Justice Department official. The public has responded with shock and outrage, calling for accountability and the ADL has released a statement condemning the behavior. This has highlighted the need for greater awareness of anti-Semitism and other forms of bigotry.

Four progressive candidates are running in a special primary election in Rhode Island to fill the congressional seat of former Rep. David Cicilline. On Monday morning, a vehicle crashed into a Denny's restaurant in Rosenberg, Texas, injuring 23 people. Video of the aftermath shows a red vehicle fully inside the restaurant, with the wall and windows around it demolished. On Tuesday, the Texas Senate will gavel in for the impeachment trial of Attorney General Ken Paxton, a rare instance of a political party seeking to hold one of its own to account for allegations of wrongdoing. Hundreds of people are expected to witness the proceedings, which will include testimony from witnesses and evidence presented by both sides. If two-thirds of the senators find Paxton guilty, he will be removed from office.
Elon Musk has threatened to sue the Anti-Defamation League (ADL) for purportedly accusing X, formerly known as Twitter, of antisemitism and fueling advertisers' exodus from the site. The ADL responded to Musk's threat, saying that it will not be intimidated or silenced in its work to fight hate and bigotry. A #BanTheADL campaign is gaining traction on X, calling for a boycott of the ADL and its supporters, and it remains to be seen whether Musk will follow through on his threat to sue the ADL.
Enrique Tarrio, the former chairman of the far-right Proud Boys, is set to be sentenced Tuesday afternoon for his role in the Jan. 6 attack on the U.S. Capitol. Federal prosecutors are seeking a sentence of 33 years, but U.S. District Judge Timothy Kelly is expected to sentence Tarrio to a much lower term. Tarrio's co-defendants have already been sentenced, and Dominic Pezzola, the fifth defendant in the seditious conspiracy trial, is still awaiting sentencing. Tarrio's sentencing is expected to provide further insight into the scope of the Jan. 6 conspiracy.
After days of flooding left tens of thousands of Burning Man festival goers stranded, organizers lifted a driving ban on Monday afternoon, allowing attendees to begin their exodus from the Black Rock Desert in northern Nevada. However, they asked attendees to consider holding off on trips home until Tuesday to alleviate congestion. As of Monday afternoon, about 64,000 people remained at the festival site.
Burning Man festival organizers have lifted a lockdown imposed due to heavy rains, allowing tens of thousands of attendees to leave the remote Black Rock Desert venue. The rain caused more than half an inch of precipitation, leaving roads impassable and tents muddy. Despite the difficulties, the organizers remain hopeful that the event will be able to continue in the future.
