The University of Connecticut Huskies are one win away from their fifth national title after a 72-59 win over the Miami Hurricanes in the Final Four on Saturday. UConn got off to a quick start, extending their lead to 20 points before the Hurricanes started to make shots. Led by Adama Sanogo and Jordan Hawkins, the Huskies regained control of the game and will now face the winner of the Baylor-Houston game in the NCAA men’s basketball championship game on Monday, April 5th.

Oscar Pistorius, the double-amputee sprinter known as the “Blade Runner”, was denied parole by a parole board in Pretoria, South Africa following a hearing. The board cited a new clarification on Pistorius’ sentence that was issued by South Africa’s Supreme Court of Appeal and determined that Pistorius had not served the “minimum detention period” required to be released. This decision comes after Pistorius had served seven years of his 13-year sentence for the murder of his girlfriend Reeva Steenkamp in 2013.

NFL player Ryan Hamlin recently joined Representatives Sheila Cherfilus-McCormick and Bill Posey on Capitol Hill to introduce the Access to AEDs Act, which seeks to raise awareness of the dangers of sudden cardiac arrest in children and increase access to Automated External Defibrillators (AEDs) in schools. Hamlin, who experienced sudden cardiac arrest himself, shared that more than 7,000 children under the age of 18 experience sudden cardiac arrest every year in the US, and that 1 in every 300 youth have an undetected heart condition that puts them at risk. The Act is supported by organizations such as the American Heart Association and the National Athletic Trainers’ Association, and would provide grants to schools to purchase AEDs and provide training for staff and students on how to use them.
Los Angeles Chargers defensive tackle Sebastian Joseph-Day has accused a TSA agent of sexually assaulting him during a security screening at John Wayne Airport in Santa Ana, California. The TSA has acknowledged the allegations and is currently investigating the incident. Joseph-Day said he had never experienced anything like this before and was shocked by the incident, emphasizing the importance of speaking up and advocating for oneself in uncomfortable situations.
