Parker won the city’s mayoral general election, CBS News projects Tuesday night. The city hasn’t had a Republican mayor since 1952. Parker ran against Republican David Oh, her former colleague on Philadelphia City Council.

Parker will be Philadelphia’s 100th mayor and the first woman to lead the city. She hopes as mayor to restore the “village” and address rising concerns of violence and threats to public safety.
