A former IRS contractor pleaded guilty to one count of illegally disclosing the tax return information of former President Donald Trump and thousands of wealthy Americans in a Washington, D.C. court on Thursday.

Charles Littlejohn, 38, was charged last month after investigators said he obtained the tax records and gave them to news organizations. When asked in court to name the person whose information was disclosed, Littlejohn said aloud, “Donald J. Trump.”

Littlejohn, who is free on bail, appeared in court wearing a suit and tie and gave brief responses to questions posed by U.S. District Judge Ana Reyes.

The tax records were stolen in 2019 and 2020, according to court documents. The documents did not reveal the name of the government official whose financial papers were disclosed, but a person familiar with the matter previously confirmed to CBS News that it was former President Donald Trump.

Littlejohn’s sentencing is scheduled for August 5th. He faces up to five years in prison and a fine of up to $250,000. It is unclear what sentence he will receive.
