Yerlikaya said the attack was conducted by assailants who arrived at the scene inside a light commercial vehicle. He praised the police officers for their quick response, saying, “Our heroic police officers, through their intuition, resisted the terrorists as soon as they got out of the vehicle.”

The attack occurred near an entrance to the Ministry of Interior Affairs. No group has yet claimed responsibility for the attack, and the investigation is ongoing.

The attack has been condemned by many in the international community, including the United Nations and the European Union. The UN Secretary-General, António Guterres, said in a statement, “I condemn this attack in the strongest terms and call for the perpetrators to be brought to justice.”
