A U.S. Secret Service spokesman confirmed Tuesday that President Joe Biden’s German shepherd, Commander, was involved in another biting incident this week.

The two-year-old dog bit a Secret Service Uniformed Division police officer who was working at the White House on Monday night. The female officer was treated by the White House Medical Office.

Elizabeth Alexander, a spokesperson for first lady Jill Biden, said in a statement Tuesday that the White House can be a stressful environment for family pets, and the First Family is working on ways to help Commander handle the unpredictable nature of the White House grounds.

Nearly 200-pages of redacted federal documents released in October revealed that Commander had been involved in 10 biting incidents since October. The documents also showed that the Secret Service had taken steps to protect staff from the dog, including providing pepper spray and a “dog whistle” to ward off the animal.

The White House has not commented on the latest incident, but the Secret Service has said it is taking the matter seriously. It is unclear if any disciplinary action will be taken against the dog or its handlers.
