Jacksonville Beach prosecutors have charged Shanna Gardner-Fernandez with first-degree murder, conspiracy to commit murder, solicitation to commit murder and child abuse in the death of her ex-husband Jared Bridegan.

Bridegan, a Microsoft executive and father of four, was found fatally shot outside his Volkswagen Atlas on a Jacksonville Beach street in February 2022. His ex-wife’s current husband, Mario Fernandez Saldana, was charged with murder in March, accused of hiring the gunman who shot Bridegan in his car. The alleged gunman, Henry Tenon, pleaded guilty to second-degree murder in March.

At a press conference on Thursday, Melissa Nelson, the state attorney for the 4th Judicial Circuit in Florida, said the grand jury had indicted Gardner-Fernandez on the charges. Nelson added that her office intends to seek the death penalty.

The indictment makes Gardner-Fernandez the third person charged in Bridegan’s death. The tragedy occurred in front of Bridegan’s 2-year-old daughter, making the case even more heartbreaking.

The case is still ongoing and further details are expected to be released in the coming weeks.
