On Friday, a 14-year-old boy and his father were arrested in northern New Mexico after the teen allegedly shot and killed a 13-year-old girl.
According to the New Mexico Department of Public Safety, the 14-year-old boy was at his father’s home at 104 Cabresto Road in Questa, along with three other minors, listening to music at around 2:30 p.m. when the shooting occurred.
At some point, the 14-year-old allegedly took out a pistol and shot the teenage girl, then dragged her body outside. The pistol was later identified as belonging to the teen’s father, 39-year-old William Brown.
Police arrested the teen on a charge of open count of murder in the first degree and charged Brown with two counts of tampering with evidence.
The identities of the victim and the accused have not been released, and the investigation is ongoing.
