On Thursday, authorities released police body camera footage of the confrontation between officers and an 18-year-old gunman who went on a 10-minute shooting rampage in Farmington, New Mexico on Monday. The footage showed the chaos as Farmington police and other law enforcement officers rushed to the area and confronted the gunman, who authorities said fired more than 140 rounds from an AR-15 rifle, one of three weapons he used during the attack, including two handguns.

The rampage left three elderly women dead and at least six other people wounded, including two officers. Police said the gunman, identified as 18-year-old Beau Wilson, was likely trying to get killed by police, as a doorbell camera caught him screaming “come and kill me” during the barrage.

Wilson was fatally shot by police in front of First Church of Christ, Scientist, at 713 N. Dustin Ave. He had ditched his AR-15, one pistol and a bulletproof vest before he was cut down by officers.

Farmington Police Chief Steve Hebbe said the officers who responded to the shooting showed “incredible courage and bravery” in the face of danger. He said the body camera footage showed the officers’ “heroic actions” in the face of a “horrific situation.”

The investigation into the shooting is ongoing. Farmington police are asking anyone with information about the incident to contact them.
