Suspect Arrested After Cheerleaders Shot at Outside Elgin, Texas H-E-B Supermarket

Early Tuesday morning, officers in Elgin, Texas responded to reports of shots fired outside an H-E-B supermarket. According to authorities, local news reports, and the cheerleading team, four cheerleaders were shot at in the parking lot of the grocery store after one of them mistakenly got into the wrong car.

Two of the car’s occupants were struck by gunfire, with one victim sustaining serious injuries and being transported by helicopter to a hospital, where they were listed in critical condition.

The Elgin Police Department said that information suggests that an altercation occurred in the parking lot of H-E-B and multiple shots were fired into a vehicle. Two of the young athletes were hit by gunfire, with one taken to the hospital in critical condition.

A suspect has been arrested in connection with the shooting as well as another related shooting nearby. The suspect’s identity has not been released, and it is unclear what charges they may face.
