Alabama law enforcement officers are asking for the public’s help in finding out what caused a shooting that left four people dead and 28 injured at a teenager’s birthday party on Saturday night.

The shooting occurred at a dance studio in downtown Dadeville, Alabama at around 10:30 p.m. Saturday. Among those killed was Philstavious Dowdell, a high school senior who was beloved by the community and had planned to play college football.

At a Sunday evening news conference, Alabama Law Enforcement Agency spokesman Sgt. Steve Burkett said that authorities have yet to release details on a suspect or possible motive and have not revealed what led up to the shooting. He urged members of the community to come forward with any information they may have.

Keenan Cooper, who was DJing at the party when the gunfire broke out, said that the shooting had shattered the Sweet 16 birthday celebration. Ben Hayes, chaplain of Dadeville High School’s football team, said that Dowdell was a talented football player and was beloved by the community.

The investigation into the shooting is ongoing, and authorities are asking anyone with information to come forward.
