History-Making Moments at the 95th Annual Academy Awards

The 95th Annual Academy Awards aired Sunday night from Hollywood, California, with comedian Jimmy Kimmel hosting. Kimmel has been branded as “unflappable and unslappable” as host of the event, and is under pressure to deliver great material.

The night was filled with anticipation as the genre-defying movie “Everything Everywhere All at Once” had the most nominations and had already won the top prizes given out by the Screen Actors Guild, Directors Guild, Producers Guild and Writers Guild. All four movies that had previously won each of those awards went on to win best picture at the Oscars, according to the New York Times.

The audience was treated to a variety of performances, including a musical number from the cast of “Hamilton” and a tribute to the late Chadwick Boseman. The night also featured a special appearance from former President Barack Obama, who presented the award for Best Picture.

The night ended with “Nomadland” taking home the Best Picture award, and its director, Chloe Zhao, becoming the first woman of color to win the award. The night was filled with history-making moments, and the Academy Awards will surely be remembered for years to come.
