After four months of failed contract negotiations, the Writers Guild of America (WGA) and the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers (AMPTP) are set to resume talks on Wednesday. Bill Maher, host of the HBO talk show “Real Time,” had previously announced that the show would be returning to TV without the presence of writers, but reversed his decision last week in support of the strike. The WGA is encouraging its members to continue to demonstrate their commitment to the strike by attending picket lines while negotiations are ongoing.

Drew Barrymore has announced that she will resume filming her talk show "The Drew Barrymore Show" on Monday, despite the ongoing writers' strike. She has stated that she is in compliance with the strike rules and has previously walked away from hosting the MTV Movie & TV Awards in support of the strike. Barrymore hopes for a resolution to the strike soon, in order to help those affected.

The night featured performances from the cast of “Hamilton” and a tribute to the late Chadwick Boseman, as well as a special appearance from former President Barack Obama. Ultimately, “Nomadland” won Best Picture, and its director, Chloe Zhao, became the first woman of color to win the award. The night was filled with history-making moments, making it an unforgettable Academy Awards.
