Ford Motor Company announced on Thursday that it will resume production of its popular F-150 Lightning electric pickup on Monday, March 13. This follows an issue with a battery fire during testing that caused the company to halt production and deliveries of the vehicle weeks ago.

Ford worked with South Korean company SK On, the maker of the Lightning’s battery, to investigate the cause of the problem. After the issue was identified, battery cell production restarted on February 20.

The Michigan automaker spotted the battery issue during a pre-delivery quality inspection and began investigating the cause. Once the issue was figured out, Ford’s team worked to ensure the delivery of high-quality battery packs.

In the coming days, the new battery cells will be assembled into the battery packs that will be used in the F-150 Lightning. Ford spokesperson Emma Bergg said in a statement that the company is committed to delivering high-quality vehicles to its customers.

The F-150 Lightning is Ford’s first electric pickup and has been highly anticipated by consumers. The company has not yet disclosed the specific problem that caused the battery fire, but is confident that the issue has been resolved and production can resume.
