Fox Corp. chairman Rupert Murdoch acknowledged in a recently unsealed deposition that some Fox News commentators endorsed false allegations of election fraud by former President Donald Trump and his allies. The deposition is part of a $1.6 billion defamation lawsuit against the cable news giant by Dominion Voting Systems.

Murdoch was asked about whether he was aware that some of the network’s commentators – Lou Dobbs, Maria Bartiromo, Jeanine Pirro and Sean Hannity – at times endorsed the false election claims.

On Monday, former President Donald Trump renewed his attacks on Fox News, accusing the network of downplaying his popularity over Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis (R). Trump was referring to a Fox News poll published Sunday that showed him leading DeSantis by 15 points in a hypothetical 2024 presidential face-off.

“FoxNews is promoting Ron DeSanctus so hard and so much that there’s not much time left for Real News,” Trump wrote on Truth Social. He also tweeted, “The new Fox Poll, which have always been purposely terrible for me, has ‘TRUMP Crushing DeSanctimonious,’ but they barely show it.”

The lawsuit against Fox News is ongoing and it remains to be seen how the network will respond to the allegations. Murdoch has yet to comment on the matter, but it is clear that the network’s handling of the false election claims is being closely scrutinized.
